Next week I should have a little bit of extra money and I really want to buy myself a new game. I havent' gotten any new DS games since New Years (Picross DS) and even worse, my last Wii game was mid 2007 (Metal Slug Anthology) so I want to get something for one of those systems. My budget probably wont be bigger than $30 so I can't really get any of the good games from Big W, but my back ups are either

Rayman Raving Rabbids 1 (Wii)
Tony Hawk Proving Ground (DS)

I know there are better games out there, but these are both games I've wanted to pick up and their prices are about right for me during these sales. I really enjoyed American Sk8land on DS and Proving Ground looks like more of the same, which is a good thing to me (although thankfully it's supposed to put up a bit more of a challenge) but I just love the Rabbids and RRR is probably the only minigame pack I would want on Wii (and yes, I will pick up RRR2 down the line, and I'll probably be playing by myself at first so I don't mind turn based multiplayer minigames)

So, opinions anyone?

One thing I have noticed is that what one persone loves, someone else hates.  I have only heard bad things about RRR on Wii but you might love it as you suggested.  Maybe it would help if you listed your five most favourite Wii and DS games so we know what sort of games would tickle your fancy.

Generally anything like Zelda would bore me to death as would golf or even fighting games. But this is about you, what do you like?

Or you could just use review scores:

I'd rather ask people than rely only on review scores (since those are just over hyped views of one person).

I generally don't like buying minigame collaborations, but RRR has a lot of charm and humor that really gets me laughing just from watching videos. Meanwhile like I said about TH, I loved American Sk8land and have being relying on just that game since last years Downhill Jam was such a disappointment to me (TH as a racing game = a greater sin than killing puppies). As for what kind of games I like/dislike, I play pretty much any genre apart from non-skateboarding sports or FPS games (although if I had a 360/PS3 I would probably start playing those too, just because online is what is making those games awesome)

I was excited about RRR with the videos too, and while the game does still have a lot of good humour in it, the game falls pretty flat sorta quickly.
The singleplayer consists of playing the minigames lots and lots, and half of them repeat 2 or 3 times throughout the singleplayer game.
I've barely played multiplayer, simply because it's boring.
None of the minigames, well not many, really suit a multiplayer environment and just consist of handing the Wiimote around taking turns on the same game.
Watching the same game 4 times in a row ain't fun Tongue

I'm not sure you're going to find any Wii games for $30, maybe you should save up another $10.  Your only hope might be ebay but then you have to pay postage as well.

RRR and Tony Hawk are at EB's 2 for $50 sale. I've picked up 1 game at a time before and only paid $25 for it (or have they changed the rules since last year?)

I remember buying 2 for $50, and I wanted to return 1 (Killer7) because on initial play I hated it.
Turns out they won't let you unless you return both.
Lucky though, becase Killer7 went on to be one of my favourite games.
But it might depend on how much of a stickler to the rules your EB person is.

Mmmm well I didn't particularly like RRR but it was fun to play with mates for a short amount of time.
I would reccommend saving a little bit longer and perhaps getting a different title.
TH:PG I didn't like at all, but that was mainly due to the DS controls I think.

Turns out I got that little bit of cash today and decided to go with Proving Ground on DS today. $25 for the last copy at EB Games, and so far I'm really enjoying it. Hopefully it'll have enough lasting value until I pick up my next game *fingers crossed*
