Wow, it does depend on how much they play it.
It's entirely possible to play it for a healthy amount of time. It's just the fact that 1. the social interaction and b. the fact that you have limited time in which to play that encourages people to play as much as possible.

I dont like WoW or any other game with treadmill gameplay. I had a go at one of the free trial weeks and stopped playing before the trial was even over. It was terrible. Its not a game but a virtual world, and thats not my thing. The social element was the only thing that had me play as long as I did.

I prefer Guild Wars.
It hasn't got a monthly fee, it's still got the whole RPG style storyline, and central hub areas where you can socialise.
The main missions, or anywhere outside the hubs you play with only yourself and/or your party at the time. So at times it's more of a normal singleplayer RPG just played online and ever changing.

I once played Runescape too much... never again.

I play WoW casually. I'm married, go to uni, work, and have all the signs of a normal life Tongue (I think!).

It's fun if you have other friends playing it (I don't bother trying to meet people- not my thing to do in online games, haha). I spose it all depends.

I hated the idea of WoW for the 4 years it was out, then started playing it 6 months ago, and found I quite liked it. The storyline was well-written, and the quests were for the most part, fun.

Anyway, each to their own Smiley

I guess as long as you don't get caught up in organising of worldwide 40 person raids or anything, tensions can get pretty high in those situations if you don't pull your weight Tongue

Anything in moderation really.

Unless your a hunter....
but WoW is better then alot of games out there. In my perspective, its better to fork out 20 bucks a month on a game you love/addicted to then say 80 bucks on another game that you can finish in about a week.

Id rather pay $80 (but I dont, Im a bargain hunter) for something that is more intense and enjoyable that WoW though. Something more instantly gratifying and never, ever slow or boring.

I still got my boxed copy of WoW I got for fairly cheap a months back, probably find time at the end of the year to play it. Although, I have been playing on a private Battle.net server for Warcraft III for a number of years and always keep going back.
