Guys, due to the downtime of the site and various changes (Comments removed etc.), this is the thread for you guys to post in if you want a BFBC2 PC Beta code. The comp will start again tomorrow (Thursday 11th Feb) and 5 codes will be given out over the next 3 days. If you would like to enter, please POST IN THE FORUM THREAD linked below. This makes it easier for me to distribute codes without Email addresses required:) Good luck to all entrants!
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be one of 2010's great games. It will be released on the 9th March on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Over the past couple of weeks, there has been a demo that has come to the PSN, Xbox Live and on the PC.
Today is your lucky day Ecogamers! Our friends over at Fishpond.com.au have been extremely generous and kindly offered our site with 20 codes for the PC Demo of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. We will be giving away 5 codes each day for the next 4 days.
If you would like one of these demo codes then please comment on this news article. Note that you will need at least 1 post on our forums to be in for a chance. Our staff will choose 5 members at random each day to give a code out to.

Ok, EGers, I'm worried.
If you visited the site earlier this week, you may have noticed I posted a competition on Monday night. Win a promo copy of a PSP game. Guess it, win it. Deadline is Friday.
Well, today's Thursday, there's been 30ish entires, 3 clues have been posted...
...and no one has guessed the correct game yet. (Yes, that's another clue.)
So, to hurry this up a little:
Past Clues:
- It's on Metacritic
- It's been released in Australia
- It has a long history
New Clues:
- It has a raving fanbase...
- but is in the YELLOW band of Metacritic
- Played from a 3rd person perspective
- All entries up to and including Riiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiidge Racer are incorrect (unless someone gets tricky and posts a reply in the middle)
Have I given too much away?
To enter the competition, head back to the original post.
Good luck!

So, it's Monday night, and I'm bored.
Oh, look what I have here! It's a PSP game. Promo copy, no case or manual (UMD only), but hey, it's free if you win it. Guess what game it is, and it's yours.
You've got until Friday afternoon (11th) to submit your entries in the comments below. If multiple people submit the right answer, I'll pick a random winner from those who guessed correctly.
Enter as many times as you like, but only 1 entry per game will be accepted (you can't guess the same game twice and get two entries!). Must be an Economical Gamer member, located in Australia, and not a staff member.
I'll be leaving random clues about the site throughout the week. Good luck!

Well, it turns out that we don't have one DLC code to give out - we have two! What the hell, let's give them both out at the same time. These are AU codes for the Mercenaries Weapons Pack on the PS3 version of Borderlands.
To win one of them, you're going to tell us - What made you decide that Borderlands was a must-buy game?
Was it the 20 000 500 000 1.56 zillion guns? Cover art? Diablo + FPS genre? Best two answers win. I'll announce a winner on Monday morning. Must be in AU, an Ecogamer, but not a staff member to enter. Good luck!
EDIT 26/10 - WINNER! Strangely, both clothing-related. Congratulations GeEkNeRd and Nicholas! Your codes will be PM'd to you promptly!

Borderlands is due to hit this week. Let's have a competition.
I've got a PS3 DLC code for the Mercernary Weapons Pack to give away to a lucky Ecogamer. Want it?
Just describe the craziest weapon you can think of. Bazookas that shoot live sharks with grenade-teeth; rocket-powered-staple guns - that kind of thing.
The one that I'd most like to use, wins. You've got until 5pm AEST (6pm DST) on Wednesday 21st October to post it in the comments. Bonus points for working prototypes*.
Must be located in Australia, an Ecogamer, but not a staff member.
* Please don't build working prototypes.
EDIT - 21/10 - I do like the sound of jason's 'corpse gun', but J's Penny Farthing nuke does it for me. Congratulations!

Clawster (that's me!) has acquired 2 spare Brutal Legend DLC codes for PS3. These are the ones that were given out with EB preorders, and enable you to equip the 'Love Giver' Tenacious D Guitar in-game.
Why is it a 'pseudo-competition', you ask? Well, because I'm not 100% sure the codes will work. Sure enough to give them away, but not sure enough not to post this disclaimer. So if you win, and they don't... um, sorry about that. Please, blame me personally, and not EG.
Given that the prizes have a small chance of being duds, I've made this competition easy. All you have to do to enter is post your favourite quote from the game in the comments below.
I'll give away one on Sat 17th, one on Sun 18th October. Winners will be chosen randomly from valid entries. Must be in Australia, an EG member, but not a staff member.
EDIT 17/10 - BAM! First code's gone, and it's fotobackflip's! One left!
EDIT 19/10 - Apologies for tardiness. Lack of net access makes this job harder. fotobackflip's code worked! Let's hope eskimowolf's does as well - congratulations!
EDIT 20/10 - eskimowolf's code worked too!
Thanks for playing!

So, 15 EGers managed to enter before the deadline. Wow that was fast. I guess Messiah wasn't as obscure a game as I'd thought...
If you're curious, I'm using the generator at random.org . Page is loaded, button is clicked, and the winning comment is...

Surprise! We have an extra GOG.com free game code to give away!
HeDanny, that crazy cat, has realised that he already owns the entire GOG.com catalogue, and has generously donated his code back to the Economical Gamer community.
*cue round of applause* So we're going to have a speed round for this one - you're going to have to be fast (and lucky!) to win it!
Sometime before 5pm today (7 September), I'll post a video-game related trivia question on the chatbox. Post your answer in the comments of this article. You'll have 30 minutes from when I post the question to get your entries in, and I'll randomly pick a winner from the list of correct entries.
No more entries! Time's up! I'll jump onto a random number generator in a sec, and announce the winner. Winner will receive a code for a free GOG game. Click through to the full article for the T+C, otherwise, watch that chatbox!

Whoops! Forgot to announce a winner yesterday for our final GOG.com Competition.
Let's get straight to it!
We asked you to tell us the story of the game you could never beat.
We noticed a few indie games in this list - do indie games tend to be harder than retail games? Or do EGers tend to play them more because they're cheap?
Did you win a free game for your efforts? Click through to find out.
