Economical Gamer Podcast Episode 3
Podcast
Written by Anthony
Saturday, 07 June 2008

There are some really good bargains this week which get a mention, including how to get Ninja Gaiden 2 cheap. Everything that is on the website as usual but with added explanations. Doing the podcast alone this week is Anthony again and there isn't much discussion. Just some thankyous to those who have been submitting content and letting you all know the administrator takes his own advice, by finally picking up Eternal Sonata.

Economical Gamer Podcast Episode 2
Podcast
Written by Anthony
Friday, 30 May 2008

The worst podcast in the world has returned for its second episode. Join Anthony and Dark Moogle in a roller-coaster ride of coughs, 'uummms', poor voice quality and lag. The usual bargains from the site are read out (some are remarkably good) as well as some quick talk on Assassin's Creed DS, Psychonaughts and some other game Dark Moogle spoke about while getting lost in a see of artifacts.

Portable Economical Gamer
Site
Written by Anthony
Tuesday, 27 May 2008

If you have tried to open Economical Gamer on a portable device like a DS, PSP or PDA then you would have noticed a special light-weight version of the website specifically designed for handhelds. This particular feature has had an upgrade which is a delayed addition to our anniversary update (because the software's site was down!).

There is a slightly different design in use now, not that it makes a difference on something so basic. More significantly though is that it can now be accessed by any internet browser from http://pda.ecogamer.com.

This domain should prove very useful for people with slow computers, slow internet connections or both. A link to the portable site is now under the Cool Stuff menu and will remain there.

Economical Gamer Is 1 Year Old!
Site
Written by Anthony
Monday, 19 May 2008

Happy Birthday to Economical Gamer!

After many, many hours of labour the improved Economical Gamer now sits before you. Many thanks to everyone who has linked to us, submitted a bargain or wrote content for the site. Particularly those who did it more than once. The site wouldn't been half as successful if it wasn't for the assistance over the last 12 months.

Its quite easy to spot the major changes: a new design, podcast, reviews and the bargain spotter. I hope you like them because a number of people put good time into them. I really hope to see the bargain spotter get some use. Use it to point out bargains contained on this site and in the outside world, or to ask questions. The bargains information on the left is powered by the bargain spotter, so please make good use of it!

Down Time Tomorrow
Site
Written by Anthony
Saturday, 17 May 2008

Economical Gamer celebrates its first birthday on Monday!

To commemorate the occasion we will have a new design and a small handful of new content. Unfortunately the site will need to be taken down while these improvements are done to the website. The website will be down for most of tomorrow and will not go back up until Monday morning. When it goes up we hope you enjoy the effort that has gone into all the changes.

Sunday, 11 May 2008

Economical Gamer's 1st Birthday is coming up very soon, May 19th to be exact. In celebration the website will take on a whole new look and a handful of new sections. Unfortunately the website will have to be taken out of commission while the changes are made. Here is our first advanced warning so you do not find yourself without important bargain information on a day you need it. ;)

The site will be down all day next Sunday, May 18th. Economical Gamer will be back up the following day with the changes.

Sunday, 04 May 2008

So sorry for not spotting this 2 days ago! Team Fortress 2 has been free to play since Friday and will remain so until the end of Sunday (North American time, so we have until Monday morning). Most people will not have time to download it and play before that time expires, but for those who do go ahead and play it free for this weekend.

An advanced warning for those of you yet to trade in for Mario Kart Wii and GTA IV at JB Hi-Fi. Next week JB Hi-Fi plan on updating their exclusion list, most likely to include the games that can be used to get Mario Kart for $50. So make sure you get any trades done this weekend.

Special thanks to azamat bagatov of Xbox World for the information.

Birthday Closing In
Site
Written by Anthony
Tuesday, 15 April 2008

One month from today Economical Gamer will be having its first birthday. My last call for assistance went quite well but interest has somewhat died of due to how early the request was made. This time next month though we will have a new look and some new sections.

A review scheme has been decided on and we are looking for even more reviewers. In addition we are looking for individuals with early access to catalogues who can scan or photograph them for submissions to the site, talkative people for the podcast and writers and editors for featured content and our newsletter.

Anyone interested in helping out should speak up in our forum thread.
