Official Xbox 360 Price Drop

Microsoft have officially dropped the recommended retail price on all of the Xbox 360 consoles in Australia. The announcement was made yesterday. The new prices are:

Xbox 360 Arcade - $349.00
Xbox 360 Pro - $499.00
Xbox 360 Elite - $649.00

Hmm, those are awfully stingy price drops. The system has been available at those prices or less sporadically since before Christmas (with free games sometimes). Thankfully I got one at Big W today for $280 core + $80 for a HDD (bleh @ price, yet still 50% off) = basically $360 pro.

I would've been fairly pissed and still without a X360 if not for Big W.

Complain all you want Nick, but this is a pretty big price drop because now the Xbox 360 is officially cheaper than the Wii and HALF the price of the Playstation 3. Interesting to see how Sony responds to this in Australia (I don't imagine Nintendo will even consider a price drop yet with how well Wii Fit is selling the system)

Eh, whatever, I don't see how an official $50 price drop to the level of already unofficial market prices will move many systems, especially considering these price drops are relatively much smaller than the earlier Euro drop or the impending American, but hey, at least I got mine at a reasonable price.

And I *just* got home with Gears yay!

I did the same as you Nick, core and HDD from Big W, $88 GTAIV and ~$30 of Dick Smith clearance titles and I'm very happy!
